Women’s specific concerns are often multifactorial, complex and can strongly impact on quality of life. Problems can arise in pregnancy, childbirth, menopause or older age.
Physiotherapy provides specialist care, considering the individual as a whole improving health and wellbeing for the future. Assessment and treatment includes;

Pregnancy and Post Natal Physiotherapy:

  • Pelvic floor muscle weakness and dysfunction

  • incontinence

  • Pelvic Organ Prolapse

  • Pelvic girdle pain, pubic symphysis, lumbar-pelvic pain

  • Separation of the abdominal muscles (Diastasis Recti)

  • Perineal tear or episiotomy

  • Post caesarean surgery or traumatic delivery

 

Unrelated to Childbirth:

  • Pelvic floor muscle weakness and dysfunction

  • Incontinence

  • Prolapse

  • Post-surgical complications e.g. following hysterectomy, prolapse repair or surgical treatment

    for endometriosis. Sexual Dysfunction

  • Pain (Dyspareunia) following childbirth

  • Surgical procedures or as a result of a hyperactive pelvic floor

  • Leakage

  • Reduced awareness during intercourse

     

Initial appointments are one hour in length, including discussion of a detailed history, examination and formulation of a treatment plan.
